Baker Perkins Historical Society - Virtual BooksWEATHER VANE - CUSTOMS HOUSE PETERBOROUGHThe replacement weathervane on top of Peterborough’s Customs House was made by apprentices Walter Blades and Brian Prentice. The base is steel, the driving pinion is from a chocolate melangeur (grinding machine) and the ceramic bowl rotates on glass marbles. A time capsule was inserted at its base. It was presented to Peterborough City Council in December 1956 and installed by Jim Deboo and John Warwick.
